FIBER LASER VS CO2 laser. we use only TRUMPF data
TRUMPF made its first CO2 laser in 1985 and its first FIBER laser in 1995
THE first CO2 laser was a 1000 watt TLF laser that use HI FREQUENCY energy to activate the gas inside a blower was used to circulate the gas thru the cooler inside, the gas was CO2 – N2 – HE
the first fiber was a yag laser that was focused into a fiber cable and the power was impressive 400-800 watt the machine was called TRUMPF LY 2500 to generate the laser power was used strong electric lamps that consume a lot of eleresety and had a short lifetime like 1000 hour
In 2008 TRUMPF came with the TRUDISK laser that is a different construction and use LED to generate the laser light
In 2015 TRUMPF salved the cutting problem that was blocking the laser from cutting from 0,5 mm sheet to 20 mm in 1 go many manufacture of fiber laser today has stil not solved this problem
Today the CO2 laser for sheet cutting stop at 6000 watt where the fiber just keep going up…!!!!

There is no doubt that the fiber laser is the future,,,, BUT ONLY IF YOU BAY NEW MACHINE..!

compare a 20 year old co2 laser against new fiber laser…!!!!!

the fact is that new co2 laser consume 30% les electricity but at same time the laser power has gone up today 6000 watt but many customer forget that the fiber also use elecetry. if you compare new laser 6000 Watt co2 vs Fiber the fiber use apr 18 kw where the Co2 use apr 38 kw
but at same time it is not so easy to compare only the electric consumption as the Fiber machine usually is more expensive, and can cut different material and thickness, also the cutting quality is not same for CO2 and fiber, for service work you can not do any work on a fiber laser, wher on a Co2 laser you can do some work yourself if you get training in how to do
.
today the co2 laser is still the best laser type for sheet cutting when you think 2 hand machine
Fiber laser only work when you bay NEW machine 2 hand machine DON’T perform.
the fact is that used fiber laser from befor 2015 dont perform because is the first serie of fiber laser
And FIBER laser from 2015 is very expensive as you find only 1 or 2 machines on the marked
where used Co2 laser you can easily find at a good price
on many new fiber laser is the laser beam generated by diodes that is mutts stronger and got longer lifetime this type use also less energy and perform better but are usually designed for ether thin or thick material. this men that you can not cut like the co2 laser all the way.
but note on almost all fiber you can not do any work yourself you need engineers for almost all work you can not even change the cutting linz ..!!!!
on a old CO2 laser the engineer can teach you to do more work by your self saving money

Laser machines from China
many of the cheap laser fiber machine coming from China is stil 1 generation and come without any safety.
on the cheap fiber laser from china lifetime is usually low.
you can bay better but then price go up.
if you plan only to cut 1 or 2 hours a day the China machine make sense.
But if you plan to cut 24 hour day you must think what you bay. !!!!!!
